Jirawut Tachawongsuwon GS5: 2012/10/21 Star Sung CEO and Co-‐Founder of TITC Star Sung is a neutral speaker. Though he is knowledgeable in electronics engineering field, he didn’t address much management issues related to IP of his work. However, he addressed his experience in cultural among different companies and also among different countries. An interesting part that captured my interest is the working cultural among different countries and different companies. From his experience, fast and flexible are characteristics of Taiwanese firms, strategies and talents are characteristics of American firms, and quality and discipline are characteristics of Garman firms. Also, he shared interesting different working cultures between HP and TI. As a consequence, his long experience in working in different cultures shaped his company’s culture: Happy paranoid team. Another interesting topic is on how to realize business opportunities using the gap of different systems in Moore’s law; it is very insightful that his business idea from his IP came from the gap of different systems of Logic, DRAM, I/O, and Power in Moore’s Law. Many children go through life living in the same school district for their whole education experience. They know all of the teachers and develop a reputation. Close bonds may form between the student and the teacher. No Child Left Behind has an effect on these student-teacher relationships because teachers have to buckle down on the student’s education to create progress. I chose the controversy over No Child Left Behind because I believe that students are being failed by the system…

Animal welfare charities reacted angrily to news in July that the number of animal experiments rose to a record high in Britain last year – a 40 per cent rise over the last decade. Two years ago, Cardiff University defended sewing kittens’ eyes shut, as means to find a cure for lazy eyes. In their statement, they said the purpose of the work and its conduct was approved by both the university’s own ethical review process and the Home Office as part of the licensing process. The 1990s saw a campaign to end cosmetics testing Europe-wide, and next year, Europe will introduce a ban on selling newly animal-tested cosmetics, for the first time excluding products that don’t comply. When it comes to scientific research, however, scientists have defended the use of experiments and said researchers were reducing the proportion of animals used per study at a time of rising funding for bio-sciences.…

Think about the many places where staffing decisions come into play. In an average company, you have several managers at many levels who are all thinking about whether they have too much (or too little) work for their staff, what training they should provide, and whether they should hire employees or contractors. These can be project managers and team leaders, department managers, directors, or the CIO.…
