Politicians may convince you America is at its lowest point in fifty years, but the reality is, America is a great place to live.

In America, people called lobbyists are paid to influence or pressure lawmakers to legislate or to not legislate a law that would be in the interest of the lobbyist’s employer. Sadly, this is completely legal. Large corporations

Indeed, it was James Madison in Federalist 10 that said that factions are groups that unite to serve selfish goals, not the national interest. It is necessary to control them through constitutional means, one of which is the creation of a large republic, which helps disperse factions and to reduce their influence on the national legislature. Madison in his paper is warning the contractures of the constitution that factions are the ultimate rival of the government. They will try to force upon government their own ideals instead of the more important issues of national interest.…

In the committee stage, committee chairs hold substantial power and can kill a bill by refusing to put it into the meeting agenda or advocate for a bill by calling meetings and forming subcommittees to discuss the bill. A successful lobbyist working on behalf of an interest group would attempt to influence the bill from this very first stage by either trying to influence the committee chair or a number of committee…

    Plutocracy In America

    • 417 Words

Americans are conditioned to see our present form of government as a representative democracy where power is in the hands of all the people. Until this assignment I realize did not understand plutocracy or the fact that we may already be living in a plutocracy. A plutocracy is defined as "government by the wealthy." A political system where power is concentrated in the hands of a small number of wealthy people, usually those with inherited wealth and wealthy families. At the top of every society an ironic mixture of those who are there by merit and capability and those who merely grab, hoard, and wield power and wealth. Every nation has its many, the general populace, and its few, the elite who dominate, rule, and favor themselves with wealth and privilege. It is and always has been the way of the world. It is not difficult to understand why this is so, why every society and nation forms itself into the many and the dominant few.…

The direct strategies used where more in your face and out for everyone else to know about and where very effective. While the indirect strategies used may have been hidden and in the shadows they were also effective. The use of information was helpful to put things out into the world and it was also there to help the candidate that was being supported by the interest group gain popularity and/or publicity. Towards the end of the paper the role of interest groups and how they have influenced American elections should be understood.…

“The America I believe in” is not what most people think of. I think about what happened back in the year of “1918.” Yes, I understand, why would I think of that? Well, like I said, when we get home, we relax, we don’t go into a BLOODY battle or have to witness the horror of senseless DEATH. “Relaxation,” if you haven’t noticed that’s a word we take for granted. This also goes along with these following word: humanity, peace, health, education and FREEDOM. I have selected these words today to tell you that not everyone has that.…
