Yet, the easiest example of a primary quality of an object that I could think of is the mass of the object compared to the weight of the object since the mass of the object is not dependent whereas the weight of the object depends on gravity. Secondary qualities are described by how they don't resemble their causes which means the relationship between the physical object and the mind interpreting and perceiving the secondary qualities of the physical object by using our senses. Locke says that the second qualities are only present when the primary qualities are established so secondary qualities are caused by the primary qualities of the object. Hobbes believes that people are not born to be social and it is not human nature to function in society together with each other. The state of nature is the real condition of human beings before or without being introduced to order. The First Law of Nature is human beings seeking a state of peace because at the end of the day, it's about whatever gives the best chance of survival. The Second Law of Nature follows the First Law of Nature which is people creating covenant which eventually leads to an absolute sovereign entity. The Third Law of Nature is to follow the covenant to maintain order. The laws of nature were created to help bring people together to cooperate with eachother to survive. The state of nature is very unsafe and unsecure, so I can see how Hobbes has the intent of everybody having the best possible life living in safety
