According to the systematic review covered by Apfel, Turan, Souza, Pergolizzi & Hornuss, 2013 there is a significant reduction in postoperative nausea and vomiting and opioid use when using intravenous acetaminophen. The reviewers used Medline and Cochrane databases to conduct their search along with a hand search of abstracts to identify randomized-controlled trials using intravenous acetaminophen. The review was to determine if the acetaminophen was going to have a significant decline in nausea and vomiting following surgical procedures as this is a large concern for patients following their procedures. While the studies were testing for postoperative nausea and vomiting what they were able to find was also better pain control in some instances. But with this systematic review it was clear that the studies included various different outcomes depending on a multitude of scenarios.…

The grandmother does not wish to leave the cat. “She didn’t intend for the cat to be left alone in the house for three days because he would miss her.” (O’Connor). The irony here is that cats are not the type of animals who miss people or even care about their owners. During the whole ordeal of the family the cat is not seen; however, at the closing of the story, the cat is seen cuddling up nest to The Misfit. In fact, the cat actually shows affection to The Misfit as if the cat is grateful that the grandmother has been shot. This is ironic because the grandmother took the cat because she did not want it to be lonely, however; the cat is never portrayed as lonely. He is portrayed as a normal cat loving the new owner.…

The U.S. government was created in three branches, the executive, the judicial and legislative. The government felt that this division of power would check and balance them. The legislative branch or the law-making body of government is broken up in power between the Senate, and the House of Representatives. The executive branch, headed by the president of the United States takes care of most of the decision-making needed in passing laws, and policies. The judicial branch, determines what is legal and what laws are unconstitutional. According to document four, the president also has the power to veto laws in which the Congress makes, making them void. However, if large percentage of Congress still wants the law passed after the president vetoes the law, then they can overrule his choice. The congress also has the power to impeach the president if they believe he is not fit for the job. The president can check on the Supreme Court by electing judges. However, congress can impeach these judges if they feel that they are not fulfilling their jobs. Through this system of checks and balances, no branch of government can become too powerful. This system is called the "checks and balances."…

    Pluto Analysis

    • 553 Words

The narrator claims that the white area, seems to grow larger and take shape over time, and eventually resembles a silhouette of the gallows. Now one could say that the narrator is simply becoming mentally unstable due to the guilt of hanging Pluto, but if Pluto was actually a representation of the Devil, as I mentioned earlier, then he could have simply taken the shape of this second cat to torment and haunt the narrator. The second cat does seem to ‘appear out of thin air‘ , since the land-lord has no idea who owns the second cat or actually seen it. So, if the second cat is merely Pluto re-incarnated, then the white fur could actually be a representation of the gallows and the second cat is actually trying to drive the narrator insane or kill him, as it ‘attempts' to trip the narrator down the staircase. Of course, the second cat does not have to be Pluto directly, it could be possessed by Pluto's spirit or by the Devil, or something of that nature, but I like to think of the second cat as being Pluto come back to take revenge on his former master. As I mentioned earlier though, this entire thing could be just in the narrator's mind, that is the second cat trying to kill him, or pester him and so forth. The narrator could be sick from guilt over killing Pluto and has become mentally unstable and that the second cat has no direct hand in this coming about. I like to think…

In The Black Cat, the narrator lives out on a cruel and violent existence, which he ultimately blames on a poor innocent cat. In The Black Cat, it’s a lot more than just the title of the story, there are important symbols and key points that come out in the story. The protagonist’s narration of The Black Cat exhibits delusional behavior with brief interruptions of reality where he discloses his demented behavior by stating the consequences of his atrocious actions. Despite his awareness of his criminal actions, the man still blames the cat and refuses to hold himself accountable…
