Full name: Chary Lou Navarro-Defante
she has been writing poems since her high school days in Aklan College (Aklan Catholic College)
Her Works has been published in Hiligayon, Yuhum, Home life Patubas (1994), In Time Passing there are Things (100 Hime Life Poets) (1999),Mantala 3 and in the Philippine Daily Inquirer (2002)
A PhD Graduate
Maried to Ricardo S. Defante II and had a child, Kaanah Miyax Raisha "Masterpiece"
She now reside in Canada with her sister, Losally
About the Poem: the author wrote the poem in 1994 when she was a 4th year college student it was just an output for the poetry writing seminar with Palanca Awardess Dr. Leoncio P. Deriada (poetry editor of Homelife magazine.)
• The piece was first published in the book Patubas: An Anthology of West Visayan Poetry: 1986-1994 by the National Committee on the Literary Arts (NCLA) of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and then in Philippine Literatures: texts, themes, approaches by UST Publishing House in 2008.
• The poem was inspired by O. Henry's short story The Last Leaf.
• She used the puno ng kaimito or star apple tree because it was one of her favorite "childhood fruits".

Daliri ng hangin- pagdating ng kamatayan dahan-dahang pinipitas- patuloy na pagkaubos ng mga dahon mata ni lola ay kinurot- hudyat ng kamatayan niya dahan-dahang nahiga- facing the truth (needs to rest) hapdi na dala ng kurot- acceptance of death (dahil sa katandaan) talukap ng kanyang mga mata's nagabot- taking its last pick of life
