London
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel situated on the banks of the River Thames inLondon, England. The entire structure is 135 metres (443 ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft).
It is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe, and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom, visited by over 3.5 million people annually.[4] When erected in 1999 it was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, until surpassed first by the 160 m (520 ft) Star of Nanchang in 2006 and then the 165 m (541 ft) Singapore Flyer in 2008. Supported by anA-frame on one side only, unlike the taller Nanchang and Singapore wheels, the Eye is described by its operators as "the world's tallest cantilevered observation wheel".[5] It is the 20th tallest structure in London and offers the highest public viewing point in the city, although this will be superseded by The Shard skyscraper viewing deck when it opens to the public in February 2013.

The London Eye, or Millennium Wheel, was officially called the British Airways London Eye and then the Merlin Entertainments London Eye. Since 20 January 2011, its official name is the EDF Energy London Eye[6] following a three-year sponsorship deal.

The London Eye adjoins the western end of Jubilee Gardens, on the South Bank of the River Thames between Westminster Bridge and Hungerford Bridge, in the London Borough of Lambeth. The site is adjacent to that of the former Dome of Discovery, which was built for the Festival of Britain in

As I finally walked up the great hill, I caught sight of ‘the building’ and I knew at once it was the globe Theatre, it was the gorgeous narrow castle on the left. It was the most out-standing building of all of them and it had a reddish flag at the very top which meant there was a performance on that day. The building was like a sky-scraper and its colour was just so different from the dull and dark other buildings. The building had a very circular shape.…

From the beginning, Chicago was introduced to the reader as a place that was only known for its smell that resembled a slaughter house and the Great Fire that forced the city to start once again from scratch, but after the fair, that changed. The White City brought not only more visitors, money and recognition to the city, but also it gave it more value in the eyes of the eastern cities that didn’t believe Chicago could pull such an amazing creation off. The beautiful architecture, variety of exhibits and inventions, and the massive size was a surprise to the eyes of all non-believers. Since the invention of the Ferris Wheel was created to top off the main attraction in Paris’s fair, the Eiffel Tower, it definitely became a big hit as soon as it opened. From that point on, the Ferris Wheel is seen in all fairs around the US and even the world. Because of that invention, Chicago’s numbers in population at the Fair increased dramatically.…
