Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, shows an outcast who is excluded from the company of others in the book. The books shows that everyone will eventually feel loneliness and isolation. Almost everyone in the book has some sort of issue or reason for them to become lonely and isolated. People that are outcast in the book are Crooks, Lennie, and Curley’s wife. Crooks is the only black man at the ranch with a crooked back and he lives by himself. Others asked him not bother the whites and he told them to not bother him. Crooks was black so others didn’t let him hang out at the bunkhouse with them. In the book Crooks talks to Lennie of how lonely he gets because he has no one to talk to. “S’pose you didn’t have nobody.S’pose you couldn’t go into the bunkhouse and play rummy ‘cause you was black. Curley’s Wife is the only women on the ranch and also the only women in the book. She is always trying to get attention and flirts with all the people on the ranch.
