Standard screens allow you to open the windows with inviting in flying gnats and small animals. You can also upgrade to TruScene insect screens that virtually block even the tiniest pests – like those no-see-ums that swarm as the weather warms up. So whether you want to crack the window for some extra air to reduce condensation during the winter, or you want to take advantage of a cool spring breeze, you never have to worry about biting insects interrupting your sleep.

The glass type you choose and the window style can both influence your indoor comfort, too – both directly and indirectly. Here are three examples.

1. Awning windows, with their little built-in umbrella that prevents light rain from coming inside even when open, means you can enjoy the smells and sounds of a gentle rain, and bring the fresh air inside.
2. Casement windows are the most energy-efficient operable window style. This means you may not have to work your heating and air conditioning system so hard to maintain your preferred indoor temperature.
3. Glass options allow you to control the amount of light that travels through the window, so you may be able to avoid blinding light that could interfere with television viewing or computer
