In the novel, the females go do chores such as lead the cows outside, cleaning the floor and cooking while the males go hunting and protect the cattle which are very different than my usual chores such as cleaning my room and taking out the trash. On page 10, it states “My brother and some other Dinka boys saw what happened and tried to chase the lions away. They ran at the lions and threw sticks to drive them …show more content…
On page 15 it states “When it rains lands fill with standing water and our villages and our villages become like swamps. When the rain stops, the land dries to dust and the sun burns very, very hot.” Most of the time where I live it gets very cold during the winter time and very hot during the summer time, but not as hot as in Sudan. There isn't just differences between John and I but there are also similarities such as if someone very important passes away they are honored in some way.On page 11 it states, “The entire village honored my great uncle. The hunters took the lion's paws and mane.They gave these to Aleer-Manguak’s family as tokens of respect for his brave deed and his self-sacrifice.” In other words John's great uncle was honored for sacrificing himself for his society. So he became a hero because he saved the cattle from lions. This is the same in my society if somebody very special passes away we honor them for what they have done.An example is when president John F. Kennedy was shot many people honored him for his work as a president.
As you can see there are many differences and Similarities between me and John. I have covered The difference in chores and jobs, climate, and how we honor an important person. Now let me put a question in your mind. What differences can you come up with with John and
