172 and 157, it tells how the cultural in Sierra Leone does not allow men to cry. Men represent
strong and are the whole in the family. If the men are weak, then the whole family wills collapse.

Lastly, on page 16, it talks about the moon myth that Ishmael had told him. Moon is the twilight;

Another cultural purpose of myth I
found was on pages 12, 172 and 157. In these pages, Ismael described how men in his country or
cultural couldn’t easily cry. Men are the example of the family; they have to show their power so
they aren't supposed to cry unless it’s a very serious situation. They suppose to be strong in order
to protect their families. This is what their cultural belief for men. On page 16, I found another
myth, which old men in Kabati said, “We must strive to be like the moon.” This myth is also a
cultural story that was passed down by their ancestor to example to their offspring’s that means
everyone should be happy, being on their best behavior and to be good to others. “People
complain when there is too much sun and it gets unbearably hot, and also when it rains too much
or when it is cold. But, she said, no one grumbles when the moon shines.” The myths tell how
the creator provided light from the sun, and provided twilight from the moon at night, so it’s
never dark. Everyone become happy because of the moon and value the moon in their own
special way. The moon has become a shadow at night, which the children watch their shadows,
