“EVERYBODY UP!” Josie shouted.
The sword maidens were on their feet, swords in hand, in a second and a half. They formed a protective circle around Brock as Neph snarled and growled at the intruders, trying to keep himself between them and the sword maidens.
A voice in the dark said, “Hello ladies, no need for any violence, you're out numbered six to one anyway. Lower your swords and let's talk like civilized intelligents.”
The sword maidens kept their swords raised and Gertrude spoke, “What do you want? If you're here to rob us, we have nothing but the swords in our hands and those we will not relinquish.”

“As I said before, I have need of your services. Professor Russell, will you agree to come with us willingly?”
Brock could count as well as Gertrude, he knew that if he said no, that the sword maidens despite their bravery and skill, could not stop this Angaros character from forcing him to go with him. Nor was he willing to let them risk their lives on his behalf, despite that fact that they had already saved him from the whatever the hell it was when he had first arrived on Morpheus.
“Of course, but I'm afraid I must insist that in return, the sword maidens be left unmolested and unharmed in any way.”
Gertrude marveled at the man, calm and steady in a dangerous situation, although he was obviously no warrior. She was sure Brock was thinking more about their safety than his own. However, something Brock had just said, struck a nerve with Angaros and his demeanor changed, he spoke through gritted teeth and the indignity could be heard in his voice.
“I assure you Professor Russell, the sword maidens will not be molested in any way. In fact, I think they should come along as well, so that their safety can be assured. Nets please
