It was about one in the morning, Josie was on watch when the figures in the dark began to take shape around them.
“EVERYBODY UP!” Josie shouted.
The sword maidens were on their feet, swords in hand, in a second and a half. They formed a protective circle around Brock as Neph snarled and growled at the intruders, trying to keep himself between them and the sword maidens.
A voice in the dark said, “Hello ladies, no need for any violence, you're out numbered six to one anyway. Lower your swords and let's talk like civilized intelligents.”
The sword maidens kept their swords raised and Gertrude spoke, “What do you want? If you're here to rob us, we have nothing but the swords in our hands and those we will not relinquish.”

Brock could count as well as Gertrude, he knew that if he said no, that the sword maidens despite their bravery and skill, could not stop this Angaros character from forcing him to go with him.
