You can argue that Lord Capulet was entirely responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In Act 1 Scene 5, Lord Capulet decides to throw a banquet to socialize and appease all of his family and friends. Capulet says “ You are welcome, gentlemen! Come musicians, play”. This quote shows that Lord Capulet was boasting to all of his friends that they should be happy that he is throwing this party and entertaining them. His theme is that parents should not control all aspects of their children’s lives. Shakespeare showed this in Romeo and Juliet , by making Lord Capulet, Juliet’s father, an over controlling parent. Lord Capulet controlled all of Juliet’s life but that backfired on him and it eventually ended up with Romeo and Juliet dead. By having Lord Capulet, who controlled all of Juliet’s life, mess up and ultimately cause their death, Shakespeare showed that parents should not control all aspects of their children’s life because it will ultimately backfire on them and bad things will happen like the children trying to pull
