Lord Capulet Responsible For The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet
The Capulet couple is most responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. First of all, Lord Capulet said he was responsible for the tragedy. Lord Capulet said, “As rich shall Romeo’s by his lady’s lie- Poor sacrifices of our enmity!” (Shakespeare 5.3.328-329) What more evidence could be provided, if Capulet himself claims responsibility? Here’s some more, the Capulet couple also pushed Juliet into an unfavorable situation, by forcing her marriage to Paris. Capulet also stated, “I tell thee what- get to church a Thursday. Or never after look me in the face.” (Shakespeare 3.5.182-183) Since Juliet was already married to Romeo, she has to choose to either break the law, and marry both Paris and Romeo, or never see her family again.
