Most of the time you would like to believe that man-kind is good. Many people have many different opinions about this type of thing. Generally, people who have had a more difficult life, think more negatively about other people. The handful of people who think of the glass as “half full” see people in a favorable way. During the beginning of the story when the boys still had hope, they said things like “careful, you'll break it!” (pg.14) which was voiced in the beginning of the novel, in fear of breaking the conch shell. They choose to accept that we are all born cursed with badness and there is no way to actually change it. These are the people who have lost hope completely. They believe there is no God and that they were made only to die. A little later on in the book, Piggy starts to realize the situation that they are in. He starts to lose hope as he cries “”we may stay here til we die” (pg. 15.) The reader views this as an act of fear or nervousness. When you think about it, you start to realize that it is an act of slight evil that goes on unnoticed. This human realization worries the other
