Lord Of The Flies Jack Analysis

In Lord of The Flies by William Golding, Jack changes from a proper schoolboy to a violent savage. He is shown to be “ugly without silliness” and “crumpled”. Golding doesn’t show him as a person that would be nice, unlike Ralph who is “fair” and “attractive.” Jack desperately wants to be chief, and he brags that he can “sing a C sharp” to show that he is better than everyone else. He is also the “head boy” at his school, which means he has experience being controlling, and likes being listened to. On the Island, he still expects people to listen to him and doesn’t like that Ralph is the chief. He tries to do everything in his power to make people look up upon him. He intimidates them by threatening them with a knife and “dar[ing] them to contradict”
