Loss of a Family Member
It was a time for me when life was like one of those T.V. shows that have perfect families and nothing bad ever happens. I liked it that way so when my father came home with a sad look on his face I have to say it scared me more then a little bit but I had no idea that the news he would present would change my life forever.

My mom came out of her room and my dad called us to him. He started to say that something bad happened but he stopped because he was getting choked up. He finally came out and said that grandpa had died. My heart jumped to my throat and stayed there I felt like I couldn’t breathe, at that point I didn’t think about anything I was completely thoughtless and speechless I couldn’t believe that my only grandpa that I ever had passed on and I would never see him again.

It must have been hard for my dad to loose his father but he took it like a man or at least what I could see but I knew things would get hard for him when he saw my grandma. We got to the funeral home after school to see my grandpa and what I saw was the craziest thing I have ever seen. It was a dead person, a real dead person and to make it worse it was my grandpa. When my grandma came from New York where (she was visiting family) she was sad but when she saw him there I knew she was absolutely crushed and that pretty much made it all real to me.

The sadness I thought was over but it was just beginning. After a Baseball game my uncle came over to pick up my cousin and to deliver grim news. He told us that my cousin Lola died in a car accident and she would be buried with my grandpa. That was the worst thing I have ever heard and will ever hear. I had just suffered the worst week of my life and for that reason my life is no longer like a T.V. show.

My grandfather passed away and it sent my family and i into a turmoil. It was so sudden and fast we knew we had to prepare for our future without him. That day was the first day ever that my whole family and I sat in silence. No conversations, No cracking jokes or laughter, just silence. It was a day of sadness, but as the strong family we are, we lifted each other up and we accepted it and we made a promise to each other that we would never leave each other's sides. That day made me realize how much our family is united and this day put our strength to the test and we didn't let it break us. It actually brought us even…

That was the day that my grandpa passed away. Every single part of that date is engrained in my memory. My parents had driven up to Wisconsin, and my older sister Lauren drove home for college to stay with me. It wasn’t out of the normal for my parents to quickly leave, so I didn’t think much of it. I remember going to hang out with Tatum, my best friend of the time. It was a nice day outside, so of course we were outside playing on the trampoline and doing all our weird routines like we always did. Her family, who was like a second family to me, decided to go out to eat so they brought me along. We went to La Charitas. I remember how Mrs. Teeple pulled out a funny card game for us to play, and I remember Tatum cutting out faces in her tortilla, making us all laugh. When we got back to the house we saw that my sister called, so I said bye to the Teeples and walked one minute down the road to my house. Lauren, who is one of the most emotional in the family, was left with the task of telling me that my grandpa had passed away. I had just grabbed a snack of chocolate cheerios as she started to tell me the news. I didn’t know how to react, so I ran into the basement directly to the furthest corner I could find. Lauren tried talking to me, but I wanted to be by myself. One of the hardest things I have ever done was talking to my dad on the phone after finding out. He called to tell me the plans, that he was coming home to get us, and…

Death! It’s a natural part of life and we all must experience it someday, and we never expect it to happen to us or the ones we love the most. Death is like a thief in the night, it creeps up on us when we least expect it. Recently, three months ago on May 22nd I lost my favorite aunt Sandra Teresa Jackson. My second mom. It was a tragedy in my life that I will never forget. Losing someone so valuable to you can bring out a burst of feelings and emotions you never knew you had, the feeling of extreme hurt, sadness, and emptiness, but with every loss comes a lesson.…

We were interrupted by a phone call from my dad. My sister and I were still shopping around downtown when she started talking to my dad. Suddenly the conversation turned from normal to dead silence and my sister started crying. She tearfully asked, "Is he ok? Was he alone?" She kept on saying " OH MY GOD, NO". I asked, "What happened? What is going on?” And then my sister told me; grandpa won't be able to live for long. I felt as if I was paralyzed, I felt that if my family visits him, it wouldn't happen. I just had this blank…
