Lost Badges Case Study
Occasionally, a lost badge is not deactivated when the employee believes the badge is lost at home. A temporary badge is issued until the lost badge is found. Misappropriation of customer data or access to BMV systems could occur if an unauthorized individual recovers an active security badge.

Lost badges should be deactivated to ensure customer data and BMV resources are protected from unauthorized access.

    Military identification cards and dog tags are generally required components of military uniforms. Military ID cards are required to travel on and off military installations, access commissaries and Post Exchanges and serve as an indication of a service member's rank, branch of service and the Geneva Convention Category he or she falls under. Dog tags (also called identification tags) serve to show a service member's name, Social Security number, blood type and religious preference in case the service member becomes a casualty. Army regulation 670-1 requires that soldiers carry a military-issued identification card at all times, whether in or out of uniform. It also mandates that soldiers traveling or living overseas wear dog tags at all times (even in civilian clothing), and states that every soldier in uniform must include them as part of their duty uniforms. Soldiers conducting routine daily activities may be at risk of becoming a casualty; if a soldier loses consciousness or is unable to communicate, dog tags are read to gain important information.     Since losing my military identificstion card I have learned that nothing good can come of losing my military id. Theres several major issues to losing a military identification card, one of the biggest problems is the security threat it brings about. Since this card is no longer in my possession who knows who could have gotten ahold of it, if it were to come into the hands of the wrong person, said person would be able to have access to almost any military installation, they would have access to any government computer or network, having access to that would give them an opportunity to steal any information relating to anything that couldn’t threaten national security.
