Without any traces of the civilization, the only plausible reason Atlantis was mentioned could be that it was a lesson Plato wanted to show. Evidence should not be found where it doesn’t exist, though.
Evidence of Atlantis can be found if one ignores all the faults in the evidence. The story of Atlantis gives a specific location and shape of the city, but “discoveries” ignore the facts that disprove it. Google Maps had a glitch that caused lines to appear in the ocean (picture), that led people to believe Atlantis had been found. Not only did Google state that it was a glitch, but the lines formed squares, which are not the concentric line of the fabled city, but if these facts are ignored, Atlantis has been “discovered”. Atlantis will not be found because it is a fictional place that was made up by Plato.
The Lost Cities of Atlantis does not exist and will always remain lost. The idea that it could actually be true is ridiculous. Plato meant for Atlantis to be a moral lesson in his books, to convey his meaning to the readers. Every discovery of this city uses only part of the facts given by Plato, while ignoring the facts that would discredit the discovery of Atlantis.
