I picked the green light because it represents love and love is a beautiful thing. The light shines at the end of Daisy's dock for a reason. I feel like the green light represents the love Gatsby has for Daisy. A light almost never goes out, his love for Daisy obviously has not disappeared or fainted over that long course of time. Another thing is he bought a house right across the bay, clear sight of this light. He knew Daisy lived over there, so to him, it is like their love is so close but so far. He looks at the light with hope that once more their love would be united and they could be together again. As you read in the book, when Daisy and Gatsby's interacted for the first time in awhile, feelings arose. That night the light had went
out because they were finally reunited and Gatsby finally got her back. He did not need to look at the light anymore because he got what he has been waiting for. The light was like a burning passion and a determined destination to reconnect with the love that lives across the bay. I selected this symbol because love is a beautiful thing and I feel like Daisy and Gatsby were made for each other. Their love was so powerful that even when they were over Nick’s house having tea, they could not pay attention to anyone but each other. A bond like that should be shared amongst everyone. I personally picked this symbol because this is the only symbol that I honestly took interest in. I hope I find a love that strong and lovely, one that could always be felt no matter how much time they spent apart. The green light is like a promise, no matter how far away someone is, the love two people share can not be separated by distance. I feel like everyone should find that green light, no matter if the person they love is very close or very far, true love will always find its way back to one another.
