Love at First Sight
Does love at first sight exist?
By Nadiya
Love at first sight. Does it really exist? Some people say it does and some people say it doesn’t. The stories of Romeo and Juliet and Cyrano de Bergerac suggest that it does. The famous play Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare. The movie/play was written by Edmond Ronstad. Both of the love stories are very intriguing. Neither of them are set in a modern time. The stories reflect on each other quite well.
Romeo and Juliet took place in beautiful Verona, during the 1590’s. The story was mainly in one town. Cyrano de Bergerac took place all over France. Both of them have a balcony scene. For Romeo and Juliet’s balcony scene it was just them. On the other hand Cyrano de Bergerac had three people involved. Both of the stories had catholic over laps.
There are three main characters in Romeo and Juliet. Juliet a very young girl not in search of love stumbles upon Romeo and falls in love with him. Romeo an air headed teenager thought he had found the girl for him until he met Juliet. Then we come to Paris he is determined to marry Juliet, however Juliet’s heart is set on Romeo.
There are four main characters in Cyrano de Bergerac. Roxanne is the main star. She loves the idea of love. She not being as young as Juliet was very well liked. Christian the pretty boy is in love with Roxanne but he has no words to explain it. Cyrano is Roxanne’s cousin who is also in love with her but refuses to tell her because of his looks, he decides to help Christian win her heart over. De Guiche is the fourth character he being much older than Roxanne states that he is in love with her.
Does love at first sight exist? These two stories suggest it does. Even though the stories are different they are very similar. They are tragic love stories. The mystery of it all brings us back to the question Does loves at first sight exist? I guess we will never know.

When people think of love, they often think of the passion and happiness that two people can share. Love is a strong emotion that can lead to much damage, but love itself is like a flame; it is bright and powerful, but it does burn out. However, this little flame called love can be created over a long period of time, or it can be sparked with just a glance between two people. Therefore, love at first sight is real.…

We had been walking for days in search of something which we did not know. They (the gods) talked of an eagle that would mark the territory, our new settlement. This took a toll on the men, but just as hope was beginning to diminish I, myself, saw something extraordinary. In the distance was an eagle perched on a cactus in the middle of what looked to be a lake, and in its grip was a snake. This marked the beginning of our grand city.…

Is it plausible to love someone at first sight? In today’s world how many people would be willing to die for someone in just 3 hours of meeting them? The answer for today would most likely be very different from 1597. Not many people are willing to go to the extremes Romeo and Juliet did. Especially at first sight. The chances of you having legit true love at first sight are pretty much next to none. It is plausible for a love story of such magnitude like this to happen but also very unlikely. In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare the author emphasizes love and how easy it is to think you’ve fallen in it by describing every part of the story in great detail and depth showing that it is possible to like someone very much at first sight.…

Its true when it is said that it their love is the rare kind. How often do you see someone, a complete stranger, and think of spending the rest of your life with that person? Their story proves that there is still hope. However, “Romeo and Juliet” is not the only kind of romantic story out there. A similar type of love is also shown in the movie, A Walk to Remember. This also being a tale of two very different lovers who learned to look past each other’s differences and fell in love. The only difference would be that the two main characters’ love started with a friendship which is also shown in Sharon Olds’ work that a bond as strong as friendship, can very easily lead up to romantic love. (As in the…

Love is something that means very different things to different people. For some, love can be purely romantic, or even purely sexual. For others, real love is utterly unconditional and only truly exists between family members, or between people and a deity. And for some people, love is fluid, ever changing, and everywhere, and is felt for family, friends, partners, pets, and even inanimate objects, dead artists, and fictional characters. None of these people would be right or wrong, but one thing is certain: love is the most powerful force in the entire universe.…

You see someone attractive across the room and that feeling of love rushes into your head, but is it really love? I believe that there is no such thing as “love at first sight”, you feel physically attracted but not mentally connected. How can you truly be in love with someone that you have just met? In loving a person you have to know about them, have a mental connection and bond. If you just look at someone you are attracted to him or her, not in love. Love is almost like a drug in the sense that people crave it, need it, and sometimes—will do almost anything for it. So how can you be in love if you have just looked at them? Everyone has seen at least one movie of a guy falling in love with a girl that he just looked at, no bond or knowledge of each other whatsoever. In just under a second the human brain can determine if someone is physically attractive, old, young, tall, or short. In the first three minutes of talking to someone you can make up your mind if that person could be a potential partner. Only 10% of marriages happened because of “love at first sight” (or as we now know it as attraction at first sight). This percentage isn’t high for a reason, you can’t be in love with someone you have just seen, or even met. Studies show the more that you talk to someone the more inclined you are to falling in love with them eventually. Things that also attribute to relationships are social and economic level, within these three minutes of first talking to someone, most people can sum the other up and decide if the man or woman is in their level. Next time you see someone across the room take your chance, although it may not be “love” at first sight in just three minutes you could potentially have a partner.…
