Love at first sight is a concept universally known, Shen Fu was lucky enough to experience this at an early age. He lived a blessed life, being born into an official family in the 27th year of the reign of the Emperor Chien Lung, which was a calm and peaceful time. Shen Fu met his lover, through a family gathering, Chen Yun was the daughter of his uncle, who he referred to as older-sister. The moment they had met Fu knew that she was going to the woman he wanted to marry. But when a man and wife look at it together, I do not think it is the sunset they will up talking about'” This gives insight on the Yun’s perspective of why she enjoyed watching these beautiful sights with her husband, it was more than just the aesthetics of the sky, but the discussion that would arise between both of them when they shared this moment, whether it was because of the glasses of wine that allowed them to become more comfortable at first it was an experience both deeply appreciated. While reading chapter one "The Matthew Effect" of Outliers, readers are presented with the theory that fame and success may not be due to natural talent or ability, but more to being in the right place at the right time (and age). In a world where our roots are often ignored, and who we are is shaped by outside pressures, our communities have become the place where we proudly embrace our true selves. Understanding identity strengthens community. In a world where people have to live with the fact that they are a minority, where their culture is denied and forgotten, covered up with a new image, flag, and name, what is left for people to unite as one? People lack persistence as it usually takes a lot of effort, but not for the narrator’s mother from “Borders” by Thomas King. While she’s on a trip to visit her daughter in Salt Lake City, she must cross the border, and to do so, she must admit she’s from the “Canadian side or American side”, but she is from the “Blackfoot…

People often dream of finding the perfect soul mate…a special someone with similar hopes and goals for their future. They dream of someone to share the good and bad times with them. They dream of a person that will love them unconditionally until death parts them. And although I seriously doubt anyone has ever said the sacred marriage vows to another while believing the union would not last forever, the high divorce rate shows that more and more, marriages are failing and separation is highly probable. It’s not clear why some marriages are successful and why some fail, but after reading the two poems, “Most Like an Arch This Marriage” and “Conjoined”, it’s crystal clear to me that marriage can indeed be either dream come true, or a living nightmare. In fact, it’s also quite possible for one partner to be happy in a marriage and the other one to be completely miserable. In this analysis, I plan on comparing the two poems, their similarities as well as their differences and how the poets used various writing techniques to illustrate their ideas on the marriage theme they have written about.…

There are three stories that I loved in particular during this quarter. The Things They Carried, A Roman Incident, and A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings. These three stories carried a lot of emotion and excitement. They all have different plots and backgrounds, but for the most part, there are so much in common between these three stories in a psychological, socio/political, spiritual, queer, and feminist lens. Besides those examples, the one thing that connects these three the most is that the reader can find love in all of the stories.…

When people think of love, they often think of the passion and happiness that two people can share. Love is a strong emotion that can lead to much damage, but love itself is like a flame; it is bright and powerful, but it does burn out. However, this little flame called love can be created over a long period of time, or it can be sparked with just a glance between two people. Therefore, love at first sight is real.…
