This scene sparks a serious debate between Victor and his Mother, about how experimentation with sexuality is natural yet, the loving of another man is a type of sickness that is treatable. While this debate is going on the other members of the family are being exposed of their true sexual identities. The film overuses the sexual identity issue by making each member of the family have some unique sexual identity or, the person is figuring out what sex they are attracted to. While trying to avoid spoiling the film I think a very important character in this film is the Father of Hellen, Mr. Lee. I think he makes an interesting character, his characteristics are something I want to see more of and what Queer films should focus on. His character is attracted to men, yet for unknown reasons he is married to Mrs. Lee. His disgust with heterosexual intercourse shows through his reluctance to engage in sexual intercourse with Mrs. Lee. It seems as if he only participates in the actions because of the strong advances his wife makes and his desire to keep his true sexuality a secret. While the rest of the film is interesting and certainly creates an engaging story, the tight-lipped father captured my attention the most throughout the film.
