The evolution of low-cost airlines has allowed us to travel all over the world in an easy and a cheap way. The idea of inexpensive flights first appeared in the USA at the beginning of the 90s. It has revolutionized travel, but at what price?
The greatest benefit of travelling with low-cost airlines is that people can fly to different places around the world in a very cheap way, and the sooner you book the ticket, the less you will pay. In addition, there is no difference between the aircrafts operated by the low-cost airlines and regular-flights companies, concerning onboard security and passengers’ comfort. Moreover, competence of pilots and crew members of cheap flights is also the same as in regular planes. Finally, there is no seat reservation so you can choose the seat you like most.
On the other hand, there are also major disadvantages of low-cost airlines. One downside is that anything additional to the ticket is extra-charged, like food or baggage other than hand baggage. Another drawback is that low-cost airlines are using airports far from the capital cities, so the transport from the airport can be more expensive than the plane ticket. Finally, if you want to travel using cheap flights you must check in on line and print your boarding pass - if you forget it, you have to pay.
To sum up, although there are many disadvantages of low-cost airlines, they are not enough significant to stop people from using them because of the need to travel on a tight budget. I believe that low-cost airlines considerably revolutionized travel.
