1. What evidence is there to substantiate the need to address this problem?
Since on a college campus most students do not have a lot of money because of books, tuition, supplies or other costs in life we don’t have a lot of money to spend on nonessential things. Also due to the lack of quality rest for the majority of students, the performance level of the person reduces. The negative effect of not having the energy is that the quality of one’s work reduces which can be harmful for them or others.

things that I would like, in this instance caffeine. I do know that caffeine helps the body by giving temporary rejuvenation which can help us push through a long tiring day. Although with the wrong amount or the abuse of caffeine may cause us problems that will someday probably cause major health risks. My personal experience is that I suffer from a busy life outside of school which causes me to sometimes not get the amount of rest to perform at an optimal level.
3.
What is your audience's familiarity with this topic? Do they already know a lot about it? Is this new for them?
Since we are all a part of the college experience in some way, we sometimes might need the caffeine to help us get through a class or to finish an assignment yet for the majority we do not have the finances to go to a coffee shop or grocery store when we need or want to. For that reason some of us need a form of caffeine to start their day off and being in college, I would say that the majority have at least some experience with caffeine. Caffeine is known to most if not all and shouldn’t be new to students or instructors.
4. What do experts say about this topic? Where can you find credible research on this topic?
Experts say there are many benefits of caffeine either, be it temporary or in the long run for health there can be cons to the pros if one abuses the caffeine. There have been many studies by research groups, universities and other organizations which offer multitudes of information about caffeine in its benefits and drawbacks. As well as books or articles from credible authors who know a lot of information as well as have a strong background can be a good resource.
Topic 2:
Construction
1. What evidence is there to substantiate the need to address this problem?
One form of evidence is traffic, especially traffic during rush hour. Since rush hour traffic happens in most places at least twice a day, having construction added to any commute doesn’t only cause stress but endangerment to the public if safety isn't taken seriously.
2. What do you already know about this topic? What is your personal experience with the topic?
Construction can cause many accidents because the safety of workers and the public sometimes might take the back seat at any time during the project. Also that poor construction work due to time constraint or budget cuts can cause more expensive and/or catastrophic accidents in the future. Having experience of living in the DFW area for most of my life I have seen many construction projects, some being finished in a hasty manner and most taking not only months but years to complete something trivial.
3. What is your audience's familiarity with this topic? Do they already know a lot about it? Is this new for them?
The audience attends or works at UT Dallas and has seen construction either on campus, going to and from campus or on our commutes throughout life. I do expect that everyone is familiar to some extent with construction not being that efficient since most of them have been stuck in traffic because of a construction zone or have to take a longer path because the area is closed because of construction. Majority of the audience who drive know that road construction can be very difficult, or any kind of construction that might hinder one's path or day-to-day life. For most, construction is always around us unless they are from another part of the world that has either quick or very few construction then they have experienced it to some effect.
4. What do experts say about this topic? Where can you find credible research on this topic?
Since majority of these experts are in the construction business they are partial to the long and costly construction projects because the bigger and longer the project, the bigger paycheck they receive. But the impartial experts say that due to poor planning, some projects might be too long or expensive and the project standards have to be lowered to finish without falling through. Many accidents have occurred during and after construction because of poor planning. Credible research can come from project reports, news articles that show the history of accidents that have caused construction to be prolonged or local government websites that give details on current and past construction projects can show us what goes on before, during and after the construction project.
