It was a crisp spring day the birds were chirping and the bugs were buzzing and my brother and I, at the age of 10, were playing around in the backyard of our house. All we were doing was just playing around in the backyard having a fun time being normal children as always. Then I came up with this perfect idea to play hockey because since we all love hockey. So we wouldn't work garage I got a plastic baseball bat and my brother got a wooden baseball bat plus a whiffle ball.…
Avoiding all the curve balls that were thrown at them, the ChMS Baseball team took the necessary steps to get to an advanced level. With 28 wins and 8 losses, they practiced everyday to become more and more talented. “My favorite part about this season was that everyone got along and worked hard together,” commented Lucas Jennings. The head coach of the team is Coach Ayers, and the assistant coach is Coach Green. These two coaches pushed their players to their limits to make them the best of the best. Most of the 8th grade players will be moving up next year to high school baseball. “Next season I am mainly looking forward to playing with older high school students,” said Carter Frederick. Most of the players have been playing for a long time…
After we warmed up it was time to play the final game. We were the home team so we were in the field first. I was playing center field and it was so hot outside that I felt like I was going to melt. When the umpire yelled, ”Play Ball!” I jumped up on my feet and was ready for the first pitch. On the very first pitch the batter hit the ball straight to me. I watched the ball go up in the air and I was putting my glove up in the air ready to catch the ball but then I lost track of it. My sunglasses did not help me with the sun. I was trying to find the ball, but then SMACK! The ball hit me straight in the mouth and I fell to the ground like a sack of…
So it was the championship game for babe Ruth and it was our team vs remax probably the two best teams in the league. Also I was starting pitching for our team I have pitched in big games before but never one like this game. so I was kind scared but I was ready to play in the game. So I got ready and left my house at 3:30 on the way there I took a nap to get rested for the game. So I got there a hour and a half early so when I got there I just kinda sat around and waited for all the other players to get there and so we could start warming up so when the catcher Liam Nash got to the field me and him were throwing like short toss and then we throw like long toss to really stretch out are arms. After we did that me and Liam took a break and got…
Baseball is more than just a game, it is a lifestyle that opens up opportunities for the future and helps one truly learn about themselves. When I was five years old I started my career in baseball and from the first day I fell in love with the game. It takes a keen eye to see the truth behind baseball and why the game is played the way it is. My journey towards the love of the game is very particular and I wouldn't be the person I am today without it.…

My dad has been a baseball fan for as long as I can remember. When 1:20 rolls around on Sunday afternoons, the television is declared my dad's for the mandatory Cubs game. Granted we weren’t obligated to watch the game, however, my older brother and I occasionally stuck around to watch. Overtime, this television snatching turned into an annoyance, most games are over three hours long, which greatly cut into my precious TV time on the weekends. I grew to hate the game because I found it long, boring, and filled with little action. Also, the only games my family watched were Cubs games and the Cubs have sucked since 1908. But like every good relationship it takes time for a bond to…
Billy stepped up to the plate; the field felt like there was an earthquake due to the fact that the two crowds were so loud that the field appeared to be lightly shaking. He steps in the box the as pitcher winded up and the pitch went pop! The pitch blew right past the catcher’s glove. “Strike one!“ exclaimed the umpire.…
Baseball means more to me than anything I can imagine. It is more than a sport, to me it is a lifestyle. People misunderstand baseball, they thinks it is just a game where one hits a ball with a big stick. It is not it is a sport for the tough not the weak. I believe in baseball.…
As a kid, I always wanted to play professional baseball and live up to my dream to play in the MLB. I had high expectations for myself, and I was really determined to achieve my goal and live a successful life. I was convinced for a long time that playing baseball was the right choice for me, but that has changed over some time. As time has passed, I now have a different mindset; to work in the field of criminal justice. Success is the accomplishment of one’s goals, and I now have a new goal that I wish to accomplishment later on in my life. I hope to work in this field by first enlisting in the military, then becoming a police officer, and finally work my way up to a higher position. If I can achieve these goals during my life time, then I…
Hi , I’m Lilli Burton . I am in sixth grade, and play baseball with the boys. A barrier i have faced is trying to play baseball because I am a girl. Whenever I try - out , they say “ She would be great at softball.” I face the barrier in Summer and Fall when it is time for baseball. A lot of coaches are sceptical about putting me on their team, but I don’t let that stop me from trying and trying again.Until someone accepts me for who i am. To overcome this barrier , I used integrity by sticking up for my beliefs and not always caring about what people think of me . I also used determination by never giving up and try my best to get better and better everyday. My barriers are similar to Jackie Robinson’s because we both wanted to do something…
It is the bottom of the ninth and I was last at bat. The ball came zooming towards me at a high rate of speed. The vibration of metal meeting leather rang out in my hands. No hesitation was made. I dropped the bat and ran as fast as I could to first base. My coach was telling me to keep going because the ball was fumbled. I rounded third base and my coach motioned for me to take it home with a slide. Down I went. Dust was flying. The crowd was standing and cheering loudly as the referee motions and yells, “Safe!” All I heard was screaming as dust still loomed the air around me. I could manage to see my team going wild, jumping, and screaming. Everyone seemed to be celebrating except me.…
The day of the event i woke up like it was any other day. I was excited because I was going on a field trip to an apple orchard with my friends at preschool. My mom dropped me off at preschool and I went over and was playing with my friends. At about 10:00 we got on the bus and were headed to the apple orchard. I got scared when we were on the bus because we almost got in a wreck…
Loyalty is the devotion and faithfulness you have to a community, a group, or an individual. Your duties can be obligations of respect, voluntary, or obligations you have agreed to, involuntary. Sandel states, “These include obligations of solidarity and loyalty, historic memory or religions faith- moral claims that arise from the communities and traditions shape our identity (Sandel pg220).” An example of this is when a basketball player signs the consent form to be on the basketball team he is obligating himself to make practice and games and put forth his best effort. Basketball is a team sport so the other members are relying on each individual. By making that obligation the boy may miss hanging out with his friends or playing other sports…
