My result Life Styles Inventory (LSI) paper
September 9, 2013 The life Styles Inventory (LSI) is developed by Dr. J. Clayton Lafferty. LSI are measures 12 specific styles of patterns of thinking that can either help or hinder a person from reaching his or her potential. The 12 styles measures by LSI are organized into three general clusters: Constructive, Passive/Defensive, Aggressive/Defensive. Research has shown that the styles measures by the LSI are related to a number of indicators of effectiveness and success, including leadership effectiveness, management effectiveness, problem solving effectiveness, quality of interpersonal relations, salary, organizational level, individual health and well being, and organization culture.
Part 1: Personal Thinking Styles After I took the LSI, my primary personal thinking style are Dependent and Competitive which came in the same percentile with a 99 percentile. My back up personal thinking style is Approval with a 95 percentile.
To begin with my primary personal thinking, first, Dependent style, passive/defensive cluster, is about people who relies on others for direction, a good follower, doesn’t challenge others, and aims to please everyone. I totally agree this style can show who I am. Most of my life I tend to dependent on the others until now. I like to be a follower and accept what is people thinking and making decision. Now, I’m trying to change my thinking and attitude because I don’t want to be a follower forever. I know myself why I am always a follower because I am afraid to say something to be the first person, I might say the wrong answer that will makes me feel embarrass in classroom or public places. This might be side effect from when I was young, once time I said the wrong answer in classroom and my classmates started laugh at me. That situation still stays with me. Another of my primary personal thinking is Competitive style, aggressive/defensive cluster, is about people who competes rather

In 2004 a group of scientists found the partial skeleton of a new human species we had never seen before. Researchers called the remains LB1, also nicknamed the hobbit due to its small size. It was first believed that this new species, Homo floresiensis, was a descendent of Homo erectus that had simply dwarfed over time due to limited access to resources. However, newer studies have highlighted some of the more primitive characteristics of LB1, which lead scientists to believe that the hobbits branched off from the human family tree much earlier than previously thought.…

My secondary thinking style is the Self-Actualizing Style. This style is manifested in both my professional and personal lives. In my professional life, I continually strive to grow and always look for new ways to challenge myself. An example of this is that I am currently attending Graduate school yet still plan on trying to get several certificates to help compliment my education. At work, I always try to find the most efficient way to complete my job duties and tend to get annoyed when I feel I am not doing something productive. I know myself very well and take pride in that. I know what I can handle at work and in my personal life and I know what I can’t. I hardly ever commit to something I feel I can’t do. In my personal life, I value knowing myself and have a very good handle on my self-worth.…

Brian’s primary thinking style was achievement (the 11 o’clock position in the circumplex), where he scored a 40, in the 99th percentile. His backup style was affiliative (the 2 o’clock position on the circumplex) where he scored a 36, in the 83rd percentile. Both of these styles, though surprisingly high are represented in his work and life. Since high school he was a highly motivated person, and has set realistic goals and attained those goals. His work reflects the achievement style as well; the consulting company started when he graduated high school is an example, and his upwards career path also demonstrates his achievement style. The high score for the affiliative style indicates people-oriented personalities that emphasize teamwork and cooperation. However, this personality trait alone won’t necessarily accomplish anything because it will focus on the relationships and teamwork but not push to…

The United States government has identified that a health care reform is needed to ensure that all individuals have access to health care. In March 2010 President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to ensure all individuals in the United States will have access to quality health care ("Key Features Affordable Care ", 2013). Many organizations, including the Institute of Medicine (IOM), recognize that changes need to be made to the current health care system in order for Affordable Care Act to be successful. In 2010 the IOM issued a report reflecting changes needed in health care including: nursing education, nursing practice, and nursing roles as leaders (“Future Nursing”, 2010).…

At nineteen years old, it is difficult to believe that I have had nearly two decades worth of experiences. Although it has been a bumpy ride with many ups and downs along this journey, I am who I am today directly as a result of those experiences and how I dealt with them. My family, school, dance classes, and peers have all had a hand at shaping the confident, bright, and enthusiastic college student that I have come to be. Immigrating to the United States of America from Armenia in 1988, my family has been one of the most influential agents of socialization in my life, greatly impacting how I perceive myself, the world, and the situations I find myself in on a daily basis. Shortly after my parents, older sister, grandparents, aunts, and cousins (totaling nine people) settled down in a twobedroom, one-bathroom unit house in Glendale, I was born. From what I am told, we lived in the small house, crammed with 10 people for a few months. Eventually, everyone except my mother, father, older sister and me found other homes and moved out. Two years after I was born, my younger sister was born and my family, as I know it, came to exist. My family, more specifically, my mom and dad, are responsible for what I learned during the early stages of my life. Although they tried to assimilate into American society, my parents undoubtedly also wanted me to be aware of my Armenian-American subculture. Since people can only teach what they already know, it is not surprising that my parents taught me first the Armenian language, as well as the values and beliefs common in the Armenian culture. I also learned the norms, both prescriptive and proscriptive, that my family accepts and follows and I continue to adhere to them today. Also, my parents passed on to me simple mores that have helped me learn to distinguish between what is right and wrong, ethical and immoral. Furthermore, my family has influenced me…
