Introduction :- The lifestyle inventory is a self assessment diagnostic instrument that measures 12 key thinking patterns or “styles”. It promotes performance change & improvement by increasing personal understanding of one’s thinking and behavior.
Part I : There are 3 LSI styles namely 1. Constructive style. 2. Passive/ defensive style. 3. Aggressive/ defensive style.
My percentile style which represents me most is aggressive/ defensive style. This style reflects self promoting thinking & behavior used to maintain status/position & fulfill security needs through task related activities. My primary style is achievement. My backup thinking style is perfectionistic and was closely followed by approval. My limiting style appears to be humanistic-encouraging.
Achievement style person usually set goals & be enthusiastic about working towards challenging but realistic goals. In pursuit of these goals & achieving high quality results, they are likely to follow a well developed plan that has been considered in depth. According to LSI score when your achievement score is greater & the humanistic-encouraging & affiliative score are less. A concern for task accomplishment will diminish a concern need for others. This imbalance is reducing my overall effectiveness. Although I am myself a self motivated and very aggressive person but I am not good at inspiring and motivating others. I want to improve my humanistic-encouraging behavior.
Part II : The 5 functions of management of management are planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. My personal styles have a great degree of impact on how I do these tasks. I have high score in achievement, perfectionistic and approval and a low score on self actualizing, humanistic-encouraging and affiliative. I am very good at planning, organizing. I need some improvement as regard my skill set on staffing. Directing and
