Question B, “do I have sufficient information to make a high-quality decision?”, I answered no due to the lack of understanding and unfamiliarity of the situation. Question C, “is the problem structured?”, no it is not since LTC Adams is trying to build a structed plan. Question D “is acceptance of the decision by subordinates important for effective implementation?”, I choose yes because whatever the outcome is subordinates must comply. Question E “if I were to make the decision by myself is it reasonably certain that it would be accepted by my subordinates?”, no it would not be certain because I would not know their point of view or what they expect to happen to them. Question F, “do subordinates share the organizational goals to be attained in solving this problem?”, I chose no being that some subordinates may be the ones who will be affected and may have to retire or relocated. These choices lead me to “CII” of the decision-making style, in where the manager shares the problem with his or her subordinates in a group meeting and then makes the decision.
