Virtually from the time we are born, we are encouraged to close that door and keep it locked. Our religious teachings tell us that we must "go by the book" or face the consequences. Our teachers do everything in their power to squelch our imaginations, learn "facts" and stick with established scientific dogma. Our parents prod us to succeed in life and get our heads out of the clouds.
Eventually, our spirits rebel and we look for ways to free us from the restrictions of the body. Deep inside our unconscious and subconscious minds, we know that there is more to life. We read accounts of others who have had NDEs (Near Death Experiences), astral traveled, had profound lucid dreams and had deep mystical experiences. Perhaps a visit to a genuine psychic opens our eyes to the fact that clairvoyance and other paranormal experiences are real. A voice inside you may say, "Yes, but it's going to be really hard" or "No, I'm not spiritual enough." Listen to these negative voices, because they will give you clues to the right positive, empowering affirmations to use. If you think it will take years of practice before you have a lucid dream, it probably will, unless you can change this belief system with positive affirmations. If you think you're not a spiritual person, that is a programmed belief that needs to be addressed. When you feel a negative belief arise, don't fight it. Instead, allow it to speak its mind and then repeat an affirmation such as this: "Even though I believe I am not a spiritual person, I deeply and completely forgive myself."
