A person with a disability can also be a minority that gives insight to that of capability of basic functions that we take for granted. In the story of Cathedral, a husband learns about the obstacles of being blind via his wife’s childhood friend. Conceptually, the husband does not fully understand the disconnect blind people have in way of day to day tasks. Through his wife inviting the blind man over, the husband learns small tidbits about the thought process and optimistic attitude the man displayed. This story is in reference to diverse voices, as vision is a form of communication that some do not have, but make up for it in other means.
