In “Fast break” by Edward Hirsch the theme he is trying to portrait is that work can pay off. I see this is many spots throughout the poem. In stanza two Edward is showing descriptive imagery, it read, “for once our gangly starting center/boxes out his man.” By saying for once it indicates that he had never done it before, so I inferred that he must have been working hard to finally get a good box out. In stanza four he shows figurative imagery by saying “And spinning around to throw a strike/to the outlet who is already shoveling.” These words are showing that work within the team was paying off because one team member had a great pass to other. In the last stanza he is showing descriptive imagery as he says “And swiveling back to see an…

It is important to never exclude anyone whether intentional or by lack of thought or consideration. Just because a service user has dementia, it does not exclude him or her from taking part in activities and there should be activities to suit their capabilities so they are not left feeling isolated or inadequate remembering that dementia has a wide range of stages each person needs to be suitably stimulated, also having dementia should never result in them being excluded from decisions or discussions regarding their own care. Even advance dementia as long as they can still make their wishes known through speech, picture cards or other communication methods they must still be included. A good example of not excluding them from choices is if you were to offer a dementia sufferer a bath or wash and they decline to, do not try and force the issue, come back later and try again where a different state of mind could result in a different outcome.…

"The Luncheon" by W. Somerset is a wonderfully written story, but the variation by Jeffrey Archer is equally as enticing. Both narratives tell of an author who is struggling to make ends meet, but sees his big break at a very expensive luncheon. I like both of the stories because although they have the same plot the twists at the end make them completely different. At first I wondered how the same story could be comparable, let only different, but I was wrong.…

This is a story of when I fell down in the school cafeteria. This event was very embarrassing at first and I kind of felt sad. After a while, I started laughing with the kids that were laughing at me, so that I wouldn’t feel bad the rest of the day and so that I could get over it. This is my most embarrassing day, but it also one of the funniest days. I learned a very important lesson that day, which is how to turn an embarrassing situation into a bearable situation.…
