There are a multitude of causes of ATN some of them include hypovolemic states such as hemorrhaging, GI and Renal loss as well as fluid sequestration. Another common cause is from antibiotics such as aminoglycosides. Anywhere between 10-30% of patients on aminoglycosides are likely to experience some form of toxic side effects even when the drug is within therapeutic levels.
