"Every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons. It settles the great question of citizenship and removes all doubt as to what persons are or are not citizens of the United States. This has long been a great desideratum in the…

But to those who are receiving the name as “illegal” or “alien” can be a quite hurtful and unsatisfactory. In a way it’s like going back to slavery when African Americana were called “Nigger” it was an offensive term to describe a group of people. We would all agree today that calling an African American a “Negro or Nigger” is being racist but little do we know; we are still doing it today but with different groups. It's the same exact thing when describing someone who left their country to restart their life in another country as an “illegal alien.” I know it may be an unpleasant comparison to use, but it's the awful truth. It's were this country (America) of all opportunities stands at the moment. It is very unsatisfactory being labeled as an “ illegal Alien,” In a way they are looking down at the individual who is referred to as an “illegal Alien.” They are basically telling you in written paper that you don't belong in this country. Which is very unconformable to many individual. I personally agree with the author’s argument not only because the author mentions that it's “racist” but also because I myself have experienced this typed of offence. I am a DREAMer; I was brought to this country when I was about two years old. I didn't know what my parents were doing; I was unaware of the consequence I was going to face. I didn't have a choice is what I am saying; it was not my decision to be in this…
