The developmental stresses Lupe is dealing with now is age-related. Lupe is a 45-year-old women who has been taking care of all her love ones her whole life up to this point while at the same time raising her two children on her own. Lupe recently started to think about all the things she missed out on throughout her life because she was putting everyone above herself, and started to engage in some of those activities. I believe Lupe’s family is also the source of her depression but her caring nature for the well-being of family members is the resilience she relies on in the face of difficulties. Broderick & Blewitt explains this as ego integrity (vs despair) “a process of life review helps the elderly adult to develop a sense that her own life is something that had to be,” that she has lived a life that has order meaning, and dignity” (pg. 491). Lupe viewing the support she has been providing to her family as a strength and not a premonition of a lonely future.

Lucia and Eva return to Lupe’s home will only have a small impact on Lupe’s life. Lupe should continue to focus on fulfilling her life wishes. I would encourage Lupe to recommend to her daughter that her and Tomas should attend couple counseling. Through counseling they could increase the way the communicate with one another and assess the impact this may be having on Eva. I would encourage safe care activities for everyone and warmth building activities for Lucia and
