I can say that the book has elements that is true to society today, being that many families or children are migrating to the U.S. due to issues in their home country or to support their families as there is more opportunities in the U.S. than back home where they are from. They way they portrayed how difficult it is for them to get a job, the money they have to spend to get simple things is well developed because you get to understand what they are going through and the feelings that are being said like being scared, a feeling of not being able to make it to where they have to go is strongly felt as a reader. My parents came from Mexico for a better future and a more opportunites. My Father was 26 when he came to the United States and had to pay a “coyote” to cross him over. My Dad has told me that where he is from, he wouldn't have had enough money to support himself since in that time, everything was expensive. Food was minimal as he said that he never ate meat because it was too expensive, he would only eat vegetables, rice, beans, soups, fruits and tortilla since he was little. He came over to the U.S. with his friend, who had family here and when they got here, his friend left him to go with his family while my dad stayed in the streets alone for the night. He never gave up and eventually found a job and today he is the Manager of a Furniture Company. My Mom, on the Other hand, came over when she was 20 years old because she didn't feel like her future was going to be good where she came from. She stopped going to school after 6th grade because her dad thought they should be home doing chores. She came here for a better life and future. My parents are my inspiration because people may complain about not being satisfied with their life, but people should know that many human being go through tough times, that being my parents because they left everything behind in order to come here to the U.S. Another thing from this book that was significant is that Lupita and
