Castle Walls Lyrical Interpretation
Is being famous all that it is made out to be? This is a question most people overlook. You hear about the money, the big mansions, fancy cars and private jets but do you ever wonder at what price, as a human being, they pay? The song “Castle Walls” by T.I and Christina Aguilera describe some of the difficulties they face, how money is not everything and even being famous comes with a hefty price.
In the third stanza of the song the lyrics clearly express that what being famous is like from the outside is not what the reality is like on the inside and I quote “Observing the estate through the gate; from the outside looking in; bet you would think I got it made; better look again.” The fourth stanza, “I got a butler, a maid, and a mansion; the belief is that I’m living out a millionaires fantasy; with Phantoms and Ferraris in the driveway; but you see, it came in exchange of a man’s sanity” expresses that money and fame carries many burdens including mental ones.
