In my unit 1 discussion posting I was so nervous about what I was writing, I think I proofread that work 10 times before I posted it.
Fortunately for me Professor Chambers felt that I did well on that discussion post, Although I still made some mistakes. There is definitely room for improvement on my part. I will now know that in my writing when it comes to numbers, if it is a single-digit number it is spelled out. Then if the number is two or more digits it is written as numerals (C. Chambers, personal communication, June 14, 2016). The most obvious thing I would change since going through this class is, I would first submit my assignment to the Smartthinking lab. There a tutor will review my work to look for incomplete thoughts and to make sure the writing has a natural flow to it and does not sound choppy. Then I will submit my work to paperrater.com to proofread the work for punctuation errors and poor word usage. These two simple steps should improve my writing even more than it has in the last few
weeks.
With all this great information I have learned in the last four weeks in this class, from what seems like the easy misspelled words, and basic punctuation,to the correct APA format and the sources available to the students for proofreading. I feel that my written communication skills will surely improve with more practice. With all this great information it not only taught me how to correctly write, but it also taught me why good writing communication skills are needed.
