List and discuss briefly the benefits claimed by Cisco for its “In-person” experiences using telepresence.

Answer

The technology of Telepresence enables businesses to me managed effectively, that is, maximum profitability with minimum costs e.g. traveling costs, wasted time etc. The impact of this technology is that people may no longer travel distant offices to attend meetings which increases flexibility and employee morale

Lotus Sametimes creates an environment where employees can see and communicate with one another, share ideas or opinions, documents, reports etc. additional benefit of virtual environments may include cost reduction i.e. reduction of travelling expenses and also reduction of time wastage. Lotus Same time enables processes to be take place in an effective and efficient manner

The case mentions “presence awareness.” What is presence awareness, and of what use is it?

Answers

Presence awareness is a terminology used to describe high quality visual experience made possible by new information system technologies such as high speed processors, and very large broadband telecommunications links needed to process and share the visual environment. The purpose is to make the participants feel as if they were in a real environment where they were seeing each other face to face. The main use of presence awareness is to recreate a real environment which can enable face to face and real time interaction without having people to actually travel and physically meet
