Renowned play, “Macbeth” written by William Shakespeare in 1606, is one of the most prestigious dramas to date. Valiant and truthful soldier, Macbeth experiences dire changes of evil, in order to gain his thriftless ambition for king. His immoral change might have been influenced by Lady Macbeth and the witches’ prophecies suggesting Macbeth is a tragic hero who had no intent of abhorrent deeds. Once honourable Macbeth pledges glory to his king and gained honour through valiant accomplishments. Fear strikes him as his mind starts to deteriorate into utter chaos by his treacherous actions. His self-conscious mind transforms him into a superstitious villain who suffers in despair as he implicates regret.…

    Macbeth and Man

In William Shakespeare’s Macbeth the definition of what it is to be a man is seen differently by several characters. One of the views expressed in the play is that a man is a man when he is willing to do everything he can to get what he wants out of life and never feel any remorse about the actions he has taken. The view of what it means to be a man, that contradicts this view, is that a man must only go so far in trying to get what he wants, otherwise he is just a monster. In this view a man is allowed to be able to feel grief and empathy. The way in which the characters in Macbeth view what it means to be a man affects the way in which they live their lives and, in turn, governs their actions.…

When you hear the word “Trigger,” What comes to mind? A gun, a game console controller, the classic pinball machine? How about chaos? If not then let me brief you on some small, yet powerful, knowledge I learned from a wise man named William Shakespeare. Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright with numerous plays, sonnets, and poems. He was no “One hit wonder.” Shakespeare’s work was constantly enjoyed as a hobby of the people of his time. One of his many widely known plays is Macbeth. Macbeth is a play about a Scottish ruler who becomes obsessed with power. He begins causing all these killings recklessly. During all this he has one thing in mind and one thing only, power. He’s not aware that what he’s doing not only comes along with power but also with a little something called guilt. One major occurrence that really affects Macbeth is the killing of King Duncan. This is displayed in the play in many ways.…

Shakespeare highlights the good and evil traits that reside in people, the overthrow of natural order and subsequent guilt. The supernatural, the divine right of kings and the great chain of being are some of the major beliefs of Shakespeare’s society, of which he deeply explores in the play. I slammed the bathroom door shut behind me, locking it and pulling open the top drawer of the vanity so that it was blocking the door. I threw a hand over my mouth to stifle my laughter. I can’t believe Amy fell for that again! She’s always got her nose stuck in her books. Maybe if she actually went outside for once and stopped being such a loser than she would have the dexterity to not fall for my trick. I get a great deal of joy from provoking my sister and seeing her squirm, like a snake cornering a mouse. I mean, really, I tell her all the time that reading those dumb horror books aren’t going to get her anywhere, but she’s annoyingly persistent. I placed Amy’s book down on the back of the toilet and leaned against the door. I jolted slightly…

All together this school year has went by like a flash, it ended before it even began. In English class we have read many stories, poems and letters, many of which I didn’t care for. Do you ever look back on your years of high school and say that you didn’t learn anything or even liked anything all those years. My senior year went like a flash of lightning, it went crazy fast. The one thing that I will remember most is all the reading I had to do in McGee’s class. There are three stories that stick out to me that I can remember really well, the first story is Rocking horse winner, second Macbeth and the last story that I remember reading is Beowulf. Those are the three stories that I liked…

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald once said, “Show me a hero and I’ll write you a tragedy”. Decades apart, Fitzgerald did not know that he would be making a claim that William Shakespeare, the author of the play, Macbeth, had perfected before. According to Wayne C. Booth he would, “Take a good man, a noble man, a man admired by all who know him - and destroy him, not only physically and emotionally” (Booth 17). Shakespeare was shown a hero, Macbeth, and made his story into a tragedy resulting in Macbeth becoming a tragic hero. Macbeth is tragic hero because he has hamartia, hubris, and experiences peripeteia.…
