On one hand, the blind faith dooms Macbeth because on his way home, he found with three witches, who made him a prophecy, that said: “All hail, Macbeth!
Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!, All hail, Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!, All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter!”. That mean that Macbeth is now thane of Glamis, then he will be thane of Cawdor and later on he will be king. In another prophecy, that the witches made to Macbeth said that Banquo will be the father of the king, in other words, Fliance, Banquo’s son, will be king. After he finish taking with the witches he went home and told Lady Macbeth about the
prophecies. Lady Macbeth suffers none of her husband’s uncertainty. She desires the kingship for him and wants him to murder Duncan in order to obtain it. When Macbeth arrives at Inverness, she overrides all of her husband’s objections and persuades him to kill the king that very night. While Duncan is asleep, Macbeth stabs him, despite his doubts and a number of supernatural portents, including a vision of a bloody dagger. Macbeth ends killing Duncan, and he passes to the throne. Next, as the prophecy said, Banqus’s son will be the next king. So he hires two men that tries to kill Fliance, but fails and kills Banquo.
On the other hand, and in contrast to Macbeth, the blind faith dooms Othello because, Othello passed Iago to a lower rank that lieutenant and apart from that Iago think that Othello had sex with his wife, Emilia. Iago was mad to Othello, so he for revenge, fills Othello’s mind with bad actions of Desdemona, Othello’s wife.
Iago, in the party Othello celebrates their victory in the war against the Turks in Cyprus, and his marriage with Desdemona, gets Cassio, the men that took Iago’s place, drunk so then Othello takes Cassio from his place of lieutenant. Iago’s plan went very good, he achieved what he wanted, but this was only a part of the whole plan.
Cassio was very sad because of what happen. Iago told Cassio that if he wants to retrieve his place of lieutenant he can go and talk to Desdemona. Desdemona is quite sympathetic to Cassio’s request and promises that she will do everything she can to make Othello forgive his former lieutenant. As Cassio is about to leave, Othello and Iago return. Feeling uneasy, Cassio leaves without talking to Othello. Othello inquires whether it was Cassio who just parted from his wife, and Iago, beginning to kindle Othello’s fire of jealousy, replies, “No, sure, I cannot think it, / That he would steal away so guilty-like, / Seeing your coming”.
Othello becomes upset and moody, and Iago furthers his goal of removing both Cassio and Othello by suggesting that Cassio and Desdemona are involved in an affair. Desdemona’s entreaties to Othello to reinstate Cassio as lieutenant add to Othello’s almost immediate conviction that his wife is unfaithful. Iago files Othello’s mind with that Cassio is having an affair with Desdemona. Othello blindly believed everything Iago told him about them. Because of his blind faith Othello couldn’t let Desdemona explain anything of what was happening. So because of believing everything Iago said, Othello struggle Desdemona and then he kills himself.
As we can see, Othello and Macbeth , both doom them self because of their blind faith, one of them in words that wasn’t real and the other in tree prophecies.
