Macbeth Essay Test
Macbeth and North Korea’s great leader, Kim Jong Un, are similar in many ways. They are both power hungry and will stop at nothing to have all the power in the world. In the article about Kim Jong Un, it says that he had his uncle, the second in command of their army, executed on national television. It is believed that Kim tried to cover up why he had him killed with reasons of gambling, drugs, and other illegal activities but was most likely a power struggle. This exact situation happens with Hamlet. He has one of his closest friends killed because he was scared that one day he would take the power from him. He had it covered up so that it did not look like it was him that had him killed and was not his fault. Also, Kim did what he did so that people would fear him much like Hamlet did. Another similarity that Hamlet and Kim Jong Un have with each other is that nobody really likes them. The only people that likes Hamlet is Lady Macbeth and his friend Banquo, whom he has killed. For Kim Jong Un, no one in his country likes him and those that do, it is out of fear. He makes all of the people around him fear him in order to gain respect. His uncle was clapping “Half- heartedly” when Kim was announced as the leader. This is huge because it shows that even his family has no respect for him.
