(B)My new headline for the story:
Marriages gone Wrong:A Curse for many.
(C)Brief Summary:
What happened:According to Kashyap(2012),the marriage system in Bangladesh is full
of flaws. She interviewed some women and stated the story of their sufferings. The picture
of the sufferers are same all throughout the country. These women face torture from their
husband and in laws which gradually leads to broken marriage.Family laws of different
religions are not strong enough to support the victims of broken marriage. In some
cases, the husbands decieved the wives and ran away with the lifelong savings of their
lives. The women who are affected by this problem become hopeless. They do not get
support from the society.Even, the laws to help them are weak in our country. At the end
the article, the authoress showed the effort of various individuals against these steps.

Where:
This situation is happening in Bangladesh. The women of this country are going through
this problem. The problem is almost same in the other countries of the subcontinent.
When:
It is based on last few decades.Earlier, women were not discriminated as much as they are
now. This has started from a few decades earlier. The situation is the worst at present.
How:
I think there are a few reasons behind this problem.Lack of education is one of them. Our
society is also male dominant.Women are always considered as minors. The
discrimination between a male and female child starts from a very early age.Even,Parents
try to ensure more facilities for their male children ahead of the females. This is one of the
main reason for this problem.Laws are also insufficient, improper and weak. For these
reasons, women are always getting at the suffering end of broken marriage.
page 3 0f 5
Why:
I think the authoress wrote this article to raise awareness among the people of our country
on this topic. The number of women that are tortured are enormous. As a human, the
authoress tried to support them. She tried to visualize the big picture in front of us.As a
women, she could feel the sufferings of other women. So,she tried to tell us the stories of
the victim women in this article.
(D)My opinion on the story:
I think the authoress did a good job to make us aware of this problem. She showed the
sufferings of the victim women through this article. The theme of this article is very
clear. She succedded to show the current state of this problem by giving some real life
eamples. Her writing style is also unique and it attracted me and helped me to understand
the entire article more clearly.
But I think the authoress did not show the entire picture.Men are also victims of this
problem. But,she did not write anything about it at all.
(E)I still have these questions:
Why did the authoress not show the sufferings of men?

(F)Have I heard any other news about this story? From what source?
No,I have not heard any other news about this story.
Did I notice any cultural biases or attitudes?
No,I did not notice any cultural biases or attitudes.

Stephanie Coontz’s essay on “The Radical Idea of Marrying for Love” shows her opinion that the expectations of marriage are unrealistic based on different societies around the world in different time periods. For example in George Bernard Shaw’s theory, he believed that married was “an institution that brings together two people under the influence of the most violent, most insane, most delusive and most transient of passions” (qtd. I’m Coontz 378). In our history all of the world marriage has been said to be a tool of survival. Emotional love played a small part in marriage and was even sometimes discouraged. Even in today’s world love is still no seen as a necessity of marriage.…

They are forced to live life in exclusion, by men. Some may argue that men have always ruled over women in these countries because it is a part of their culture. But the truth of the matter is, this discrimination is not a part of their culture it is the patriarchal dictatorship that runs their country. It is not fair that women of these countries live in fear, and inequality. These women watch the rest of the world progress while they are stuck in the never ending cycle of discrimination. Others need to support these women instead of denying the existence of the problem. There are multiple foundations that have already begun this process. One of these foundations is ‘Women for Women International’. This foundation provides safe shelter homes for refugees, educational opportunities, medical assistance, and psychological assistance. Women of Nepal and Afghanistan cannot fight this battle alone. Instead of being a part of the problem, the world should try to help find the…

In the article” The Radical Idea of Marrying for Love “the author gives a global interpretation of what marrying for love means to different cultures. While Americans strive to focus on the love connection before marriage, the writer of the article Stephanie Coontz points out that other countries practice the total opposite. Although marriage is an institution that brings two people together, Coontz describes this as being “under the influence of the most violent, most insane, most delusive and most transient of passions” and are required to feel excited about each other every day for the rest of their lives until death do them apart.…

I think that the society should put more emphasis on the care of orphans. Even though there are orphanages for them to live in and have guardant to take care of them, they lack family care. They may be mentally unhealthy and may be unwilling to communicate with others. I suggest that the government should put more resources in taking care of them and to help them integrating into the community. We, as a citizen, should also help to give warmth to the orphans, to visit the orphanage regularly and to give the orphans a feeling of…
