The myths countries that I have chosen are China and Egypt. I chose to do only 1 myth from each country. The Divine Archer from China and Osiris and Isis from the selection of Egyptian myths. In the first myth from China there is only a little bit of geographical information given. I had to do some research for some other information. I found out that there are many mountains and forests in China. As there are lots of mountains in china there are also many valleys. This would make China flood very often. In the first part of the myth Shen I has to shoot an arrow into a tree at the top of a mountain for the Emperor. Next it speaks of 10 suns appearing and burning up the crops, also fierce winds came and overthrew trees of the forest and the houses in the towns. The second myth is from Egypt. Egypt is a very agricultural country. They believe in all that will help them have food and water. Around Egypt there are many rivers. The biggest one is the Nile River. In this myth Isis must find the remains of her husband Osiris. She searches high and low for them. The remains are in a chest that was placed into a pillar in a palace. Once she finds it Set breaks the chest and sends 14 pieces around Egypt. She sails up and down the river and searches both sides to find out where the pieces are.
The Chinese people believe that in the beginning the whole universe was a dark egg where everything was mixed together. They believed that this egg held a creature name Pangu. They say he felt suffocated and so he cracked the egg open. Everything was then in its place on earth and people inhabited it. The Egyptians on the other hand believe that there was one god, named Atum, which lived in a watery chaos. Myths tell us that he created earth and all that lives in it is his offspring. He made himself a mate out of his shadow and had to children Shu and Tefnut. Shu and Tefnut gave birth to 2 children Nut and Geb, who in time became the parents of Osiris and Isis in which my myth is
