The song "Façade from the 1996 musical Jekyll and Hyde displays the way people mask themselves in order to become someone who they are not and to display a balance of good and evil; these same ideas are discussed in William Golding's novel Lord of the Flies. An example of people displaying a mix of good and evil in "Façade" is where the song discusses that society plays a game where everyone is, "Actin' a bizzare charade- / While playing the saint!" ("Façade 20-21).…

An Overview of Malaysia 's Foreign Policy As an extension of domestic policy, foreign policy is designed with the purpose in mind of defending and promoting the country 's national security, economic and other vital interests. Despite the diversity of views regarding the perception and explanation of foreign policy, no foreign policy can be formulated in a vacuum. It must serve to function in a dynamic environment. Malaysia 's foreign policy is no exception. Various geographical, historical, social and political determinants contribute to shaping the nature of Malaysia 's foreign policy and the conduct of the country 's international relations. Added to this is the external environment, or what may be termed as the systemic determinant, which becomes increasingly important with the advent of globalisation and in the wake of the epoch of communication and information technology (ICT). But the basic objective remains the same, i.e. the pursuit of Malaysia 's national interest at the international level. A critical examination of Malaysia 's foreign policy since 1957 would show its steady evolution characterised by notable changes in emphasis, which took place with the change in Malaysia 's political stewardship. A markedly anti-Communist and pro-western posture with close links to the Commonwealth under Tunku Abdul Rahman, our first Prime Minister, gave way to one based on non-alignment, neutralization and peaceful co-existence. Under Tun Abdul Razak, as a member of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), Malaysia began to identify itself as a "Muslim nation." The search for new friends substantially increased the importance of NAM to Malaysia. Investments from other than British sources began to be also welcomed. A period of consolidation ensued under Tun Hussein Onn with ASEAN becoming the cornerstone of Malaysia 's foreign policy following the collapse of Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) in 1975, the withdrawal of the US military presence from Southeast Asia…

Dr Mahathir was Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister and he worked very hard to develope our country since the day he was appointed as the Prime Minister. Dr M served as the prime minister of Malaysia for 22 years. He created a concept called VISION 2020, where by the year 2020 Malaysia is expected to be a fully developed country. He called upon the entire citizens of Malaysia to work harder and to prepare themselves to really achieve that vision. Dr M transformed Malaysia from a country that completely depended on self-subsistant agriculture, cultivation of rubber and tin mining, into a vibrant economic country based on trading and industrialisation. Malaysia now has heavy and high technology industries that have become more developed and competitive with other developed countries in the world. Besides that, Dr Mahathir took steps to enable Malaysia to face the future by establishing the Multimedia Super Corridor, which emphasizes ‘Information Technology’ as a very important asset for the country in the new millennium. Dr Mahathir also announced the National Car Project (Proton), which is one of the many important developments of Malaysia in achieving Vision 2020. In the field of literature, Dr Mahathir has contributed greatly since his schooling days. Due to his great interest in writing, Dr Mahathir was an editor of a magazine called Darulaman. Other than that, Dr Mahathir successfully handled the financial crisis 1997 and stabilized the Malaysian economy. All schools were equipped with computers with the help of Dr Mahathir. Dr Mahathir helped Malaysia to not depend too much on neighbouring country ports by constructing Malaysia's own major ports. This helped Malaysia to reduce foreign currency outflow until now. Firstly, “China won substantial favour from ASEAN by signing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea…earned more goodwill by acceding to the ASEAN TAC (Treaty of Amity and Cooperation) .” It is striking and remarkable that China was one of the first two states outside Southeast Asia to sign the ASEAN TAC, indicating that China has close political ties with Asean. In the year 2003 and 2004, China signed the “ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity ,” and adopted a Five Year Plan of Action from 2011-2015 to deepen and support the establishment of the partnership . Under this, China pledged to cooperate with ASEAN in Political-Security, Economic, Functional, Multilateral Forums, Funding, and Institutional arrangements. This greatly enhances China’s bilateral relationship with ASEAN because this not only contributed towards confidence-building, trust and collaboration between China and ASEAN but also cemented ASEAN’s view of China as a regional…
