How are the main line functions classified? Explain how an agency’s size affects the organization of these functions? What is the controversy surrounding the generalist versus the specialist with regard to delivering basic line functions to the community?

The main line functions are classified by the specific services they provide to a community. Our textbook describes these services as Traffic, Vice, Juvenile, and Investigations. Traffic functions deals with traffic flow, accidents, road rage, and a category of negligent drivers. The vice functions handle things such as guns, drugs, prostitution and things that are considered to be crimes against public morals. The Juvenile functions are contacts police have with minors that commit crimes,
