“I attribute my success to this - I never gave or took any excuse." (Florence Nightingale) The reasons that I wish to pursue a Masters of Science in Nursing are many. For two years I have worked as a Dialysis Unit Nurse and it has been during this time that my passion for the vocation of nursing has truly bloomed. Through this experience I have learned the value of keeping to one’s dreams and persevering. Despite the fact it has taken me some time to obtain my Bachelors degree it has only inspired me to continue on to get my Masters so I can expand my knowledge of the nursing profession and all that it entails. A Masters degree would also help me in my future career goals and aspirations, which is to be able to assist those in the rural areas of our community.…

It takes a lot of courage to let go of what is known, familiar, and comfortable. Change is a driving force in everyone. Like a butterfly, individuals in the nursing field may go through similar stages of metamorphosis, which is a process of growth, change, and development, (Wikipedia Foundation, 2006. Nurses have a vast amount of opportunity for growth and change in the healthcare field. “ The nursing profession has often been viewed as target of change rather than a force that proposes, leads, and implements change”(Habel,2005). Being in the medical field for the past ten years, I have seen the growth and changes in the medical field. When I began my nursing career as a medical assistant, I noticed many other nurses continuing their education to be able to have greater hands on approach in nursing. This opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that a nurse can do, whether it’s with direct patient care or being a resource to patients and other nurses around. After completing my RN in May of 2015, I decided that I really enjoyed being a mentor and teacher to other nurses. That is why I am continuing on with my education in hopes to one day receive my Master’s degree in Nursing and be able to utilize the knowledge and skills that I build, to educate patients. I still…
