The book Make Lemonade by Virginia Euwer Wolff is a story about a girl named LaVaughn and the single mother she babysits for, Jolly, and Jolly’s kids. The title doesn’t seem to make sense when you begin of the book, but as you continue, you realize where it comes in. There was a story of an old lady, for one, who was tricked with a lemon. She made the best of the situation, and that’s where the title comes from. Also, LaVaughn at one point brought over a little pot of lemon seeds. The seeds didn’t grow until the very end of the book when things started to look up. Jolly got into school, the kids were doing better, and LaVaughn was doing well in school.
