Apple Inc. is currently considered as one of the most successful companies over the world. Founded in 1976, Headquartered in California, America, Apple is an multinational corporation which designs, produces and provides customs with individual electronics, computer system and personal computers. It becomes famous when Steven Jobs firstly introduce the iPhone to the market. By the end of 2012, Apple is the second-largest information technology and the third-largest smartphone provider in the world. It has 408 retail stores in fourteen countries and online Apple Store like iTunes store as well. Recently, Tim Cook took over the company working as the CEO. Apple’s success in marketplace is not only because its innovation of new products, but also depends on its management philosophy. This paper will investigate how Apple Inc. manage and motivate its employees so as to increase their performance.
2. General ideas about motivation
The motivation defined as the emotion and the process that can guide the action of employees in the organisation, and help managers give the employees the direction to finish the goal of organisation and make employees work harder and know their contributions of organisation. There are two parts, one is intrinsically motivated and the other is extrinsically motivated. The Apple Inc. employees can have much experience to do self-control, the employees’ own development, and the important intrinsically motivated factor, the Apple Inc. employees can own the company stock, so the better company situation is, the more valuable employees’ stocks are, so it can motivate the employees. Apple Inc. is a very successful company that it can know how to motivate its employees. In extrinsically motivated, Apple Inc. can provide the more 3%-5% of bonus based with the employees’ regular wage.
