Making the Right Choice
Making choices can affect any and everything in your life whether it’s dealing with your family or just everyday situations. Everyone in life is faced with good and bad choices that can either have a good outcome on your life or it can make a turn for the worst. Yes, everyone wants to make good choices in life. But does that always happen? Nine times out of ten know. Recently, I made a bad choice that affected my life in numerous ways for instance when I got caught shoplifting my parents looked down on me as if I was this thief. I’m very embarrassed of my actions but there’s nothing I can do to erase it I can only make this a learning experience and make better choices next time around. As teenagers were often expected to make the right choices but we never really evaluate the good and bad in anything. We just do things in the moment then look back after it already has affected us and we wish we would have evaluated the negative and the positives of the decisions we have made. Often times I like to quote from an unknown source: "A smart man learns from his own mistakes, but a wise man learns from others mistakes." I believe one does not have to make all the mistakes possible before learning that some choices are better left unchosen. There are some addictions, for example, that require only a short term exposure to them and you are "hooked" and it becomes extremely hard to free yourself from this physical enslavement. I feel that once a person constantly makes good choices, he then realizes that it just makes sense to stay on that path. I have never known a person who was happy about being a "slave" to a bad habit. There are so

A part of life is making decisions, when we are younger decisions are made for us, but as we grow we must start making some for ourselves, and that includes failing and making mistakes along the way. “An act is right or wrong according to its consequences; it has no moral value apart…

With many different choices that we can take, we realize that some of the choices have effects on our lives throughout time. The downside of free will is the very choices we make. Whether it be something as saying no to an invitation to go on a date with a really sweet guy or girl or saying yes to smoking that first joint of marijuana. That one time that the straight A student…

Throughout Go Ask Alice, the diarist explores a darker and more ominous side of human nature, one that is often disturbing and shocking. I believe the theme statement, “All the good in the world becomes transparent, as evil invades with an impossible potency” properly reflects the themes shown to us in the novel. Written as the diary of a fifteen year old girl, it has an aspect of immaturity that causes events in her personal life to be exaggerated to an extent. Because of this, evil becomes the more prominent fixture in her life. It consumes every fiber of her being and becomes impossible to escape. She eventually turns to drugs, finding a temporary diversion from reality. This counterculture she experiences, seduces her with a fantasy world filled with ecstasy…

The most important factor in why people choose to do something is the outcome of what he or she is doing. When someone does something they usually think ahead because they want to know if what they are doing is going to react in a negative or in a positive manner. Some people choose to do something because of how it will make them feel instead of how it will effect them and their life. But, even though some people choose to do something based on how it will make them feel inside, most people do things because they want something out of it, even if it is not always good.…

Anthony Robbins once said “It’s in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” People make so many quick decisions unconsciously, whereas other decisions are lamented over. Society makes choices and creates opinions through deep mental thought which is influenced by preference, logic, feelings, and reflection. Some people may even question whether free will is a believable concept. Others believe it is all within our own power to make decisions that will lead to greater happiness. Little decisions lead to big consequences because when small and simple decisions are made, big decisions are to come, choices indicate character, and every decision made impacts other decisions.…

People decide to do everything, they choose which path to take, and choose the consequences or rewards associated with their decisions. Surprisingly many do not know “when you have a decision to make, the standard advice is to think everything through and weigh the pros and cons and reason your way to the right choice.” Many people just react without thinking, it is human nature to follow the impulses felt, but no one ever stops to think what bad things may occur from their idiotic choices. Especially in today’s society, every single decision made can lead to a person’s destruction or even death, the free will humans posses is something of use for good but many abuse it and end up hurting their fate more than helping…

To me, taking responsibility for your own actions is similar to the phrase “you got to crawl before you can walk”. Owning up to your mistakes and actions, and realizing that you are in charge of your destiny isn’t an easy task because at this point, you just started to crawl. A lot of times we find ourselves falling back into that mind frame of doing just enough to get by and don’t realize that bad habits are hard to break. “Never grow a wishbone where a backbone should be.” This is a powerful quote from Clementine Paddleford as advice to his daughter. To show backbone, is to show determination and the same can be shown when taking responsibility for you. Wanting in life can also be like wishing and as it’s been said time and time again, wishes don’t always come true…
