Title Making a Successful Presentation

Assessment A: Key Presentation Concepts
Would it help me to memorize the speech? That is certainly an effective way of preparing for the speech. If you have it all in your memory, you can't go wrong. If you speak from memory, you have a better chance of stumbling over your words if you forget even a small portion. It is better to have speaking notes. Memorization is difficult, which is why it's not recommended. If you can do it, then that's great.

What is a good way to determine proper pacing? Just speak however you are most comfortable. That way you will sound confident.

Try to go as slow as possible, then. Hopefully, you will balance out to a nice pace.

Pacing is about context and situation. You need to use your judgment based on the content.

What are filler words? Filler words are basically what you use in transitioning from one topic to another. For example, 'That leads us to the next point...' or 'which raises another issue.' Filler words are words that have no real meaning and add nothing to your speech, such as 'like' or 'umm.'

Filler words are anything you use to keep the audience engaged, but that don't actually add to the content of your speech.

When should I start my preparation? As soon as possible. You don't want to wait until the last minute.

It doesn't really matter, as long as you get some time to go over your speaking notes before the speech.

Try to prepare as close to the actual speech as possible, so that you don't forget anything.

Sometimes, I have a hard time sleeping before a speech. Do you think that is a problem? Drink some coffee before the speech to wake yourself up, and you will be fine.

As long as you sound confident, it won't matter if you are a little tired.

It's very important to be well-rested before speaking. You want to be at the top of your game.

What I believe I did well on was link the proverb with the speech and told a story that relates to it. The story was about how I tried skydiving for my first time, and was nervous for it. But after doing it I ended up liking it. Also I believe I did well when it came to looking at my note cards. Only looking backs at it a couple of times and always tried to make eye contact with the audience.…

I got everything that I wanted to say out within my time frame. I stumbled over some things a bit, but tried to not let it bother me too much. It also helps that I had 20 cupcakes waiting to be…

Research is a key when preparing for a speech. Gather information about the audience that the message will be delivered to, dress code, time limit, and most importantly the topic. If giving a speech the audience expects the speaker to be the subject matter expert. Deliver original information that the audience will not find elsewhere. Take time to gather the information needed for the presentation, and ensure good solid information is delivered and repeat key points that should be remembered by audience to remember. Ensure that to get plenty of rest and water in the days before the speech. Practicing in front of a mirror or video can also help figure where weak points are. Make sure to speak slowly and clear using pauses to relax and build anticipation in the…

My shield speech went a little better than I intended it to go. I thought it was going to go horribly wrong. That I wouldn’t know what to say next. My attention getter, I thought was a pretty good one, at the beginning of the speech I was really nervous about the whole thing. My knees were shaking uncontrollably, and so I started to move around. That’s one way you could tell that I was nervous. I was trying to move around. Towards the middle of the presentation, I made people laugh a couple times and that really brought the tension down quite a bit. I wasn’t as nervous. I messed up the concussion. I looked up at the time cards and saw that there were 5 minutes on the clock and so I had to hurry and get done with all my bullet points because…
